Streaming Movies/Shows: 
Here are some ideas of shows and movies that depict Native American stories and actors that have been curated by the Cedar Crest Center of Diversity & Inclusion. This is not a comprehensive list :) 

  1. Basketball or Nothing
    This is a Netflix docuseries which follows the Chinle High School’s boys' basketball team as they attempt to take their first state title. 
  2. Merata: How Mum Decolonized the Screen
    Merata Mita (Maori) is a documentary filmmaker and focused on Indiginous communities. 
  3. Indian Horse
    Based upon Richard Wagamese’s (Ojibwe) novel of the same name, this film tells the story of a First Nations’ Native boarding school resident-turned-hockey phenome, Saul Indian Horse. 
  4. N. Scott Momaday: Words from a Bear
    In 1969, writer N. Scott Momaday (Kiowa) changed American letters forever when A House Made of Dawn became the first Native-written novel to win the Pulitzer Prize. 
  5. See
    Jason Momoa (Hawaiian) stars in this series about a dystopian future where a virus has caused the human race to lose its sight.

Indigenous Peoples' Health & Spirituality

On November 16, 2022, Cressman Library and the Center for Diversity and Inclusion hosted the co-directors for the American Indian Health Research and Education Alliance at Lehigh University, Dr. Christine Makosky Daley and Dr. Sean M. Daley, as well as Dr. Joseph Pacheco, assistant professor and research scientist at the American Indian Health Research and Education Alliance at Lehigh University.
