. EzProxy off campus access: EZproxy Browser Extensions

EZproxy extensions to choose from:

Chrome

Firefox

EZproxy Browser Extensions | Chrome

EZproxy Redirect for Google Chrome

Get the EZproxy Browser Extension for Chrome

Install the extension, then open the "extension options" to activate EZproxy at Cedar Crest College

For example, if you end up at Project Muse while off campus and you haven't gone through the library links to get there, you may find yourself looking at something like this... with a URL something like this

 https://muse.jhu.edu/journal/xxx

Now with the EZproxy Redirect extension installed and pinned to your toolbar, just click the extension icon.

You will be redirected to...

https://muse-jhu-edu.cedarcrestcollege.idm.oclc.org/journal/xxx

(log into EZproxy, if you haven't already) and you'll now have our subscription access.

EZproxy Browser Extension | Firefox

EZproxy Redirect for Firefox

Get the EZproxy Browser Extension for Firefox

Install the extension and under OPTIONS select Cedar Crest College

The Firefox extension for EZproxy is similar to the Chrome EZproxy extension described above. When you are searching the internet from off campus and come across a resource that requires a subscription--and you have not gotten there by already following the library links--find out if we have access by running your Firefox EZproxy extension.

For example:

If you are at Cambridge Core and your URL is https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/british-journal-of-nutrition

Then run your Firefox EZproxy extension, so that you have access to our subscriptions, and your URL will become https://www-cambridge-org.cedarcrestcollege.idm.oclc.org/core/journals/british-journal-of-nutrition/

You’ll see the indicators for ACCESS—when we do, in fact, have access—go from “Get Access” to Access with a GREEN checkmark.

What happens if...?

What happens if you run the EZproxy browser extension and you are in a database where we actually have no subscription access? Then you will get a message like this...

Oops! It looks like you have attempted to view a page that has not been configured for access.

If you find yourself in this situation and you'd like to explore your options, feel free to contact the library via Chat or visit our Library Services page for further info.
