FYS 131: Journals, page 2

Search & Retrieval Tips for finding journal titles

While searching Cressman Library databases, you will find articles that have been indexed only, usually with an abstract, and you will find the full text to articles when the library has a subscription to the cited journal title.

For more detail about Cressman Library journal subscriptions, see E-Journals & Periodicals Publication Finder.

If you don't have a particular journal title to look up in E-Journals & Periodicals Publication Finder, try searching for journals about the subject "substance abuse & addiction." This works, because the journal titles listed in the E-Journals & Periodicals Publication Finder are usually assigned a subject.

Or, start from Journals, page 1 of this LibGuide. Many journals for FYS 131 are listed there.

Scholarly Journals vs. Popular Magazines

Psychology Today is an example of a popular magazine. The articles are written for a general audience. In contrast, The Journal of Addictions Nursing is a scholarly peer reviewed journal written in specialized and technical language for academics and other specialists in the field to report research and analysis.

Go to the Popular vs. Scholarly page on the Researching LibGuide for more information.
