Search & Retrieval Tips for finding journal titles

While searching Cressman Library databases, you will find articles that have only been indexed, usually with just an abstract or summary. When the library has subscription access to a journal, then you will also find the full text to the articles in that journal.

For more detail about Cressman Library journal subscriptions, search the E-Journals & Periodicals Publication Finder database.

Scholarly Journals vs. Popular Magazines

Psychology Today is an example of a popular magazine. The articles are written for a general audience. In contrast, The Journal of Addictions Nursing is a scholarly peer reviewed journal written in specialized and technical language for academics and other specialists in the field to report research and analysis.

Go to the Popular vs. Scholarly page on the Researching LibGuide for more information.
