How to Find and Borrow Course Reserves

The Cressman Library Course Reserves Service allows faculty members to lend or request physical course materials such as books or media be placed on hold for students at our Library Service Desk for in-library use or short-term loans, as well as assisting in digitizing materials such as articles or book excerpts to be accessed electronically through Canvas. As the library, we're committed to helping alleviate the increasing cost of textbooks by partnering with faculty members to make course materials accessible for students to borrow and use through the library.

How can I check what materials you have on reserve?

Cressman Library maintains a list of courses and their associated textbooks or other materials on reserve in the library through our Library Canvas Shell. To search for your course and check our reserves:

  1. Click this link to our Library Canvas Shell.
  2. Log into Canvas using your regular Canvas credentials.
  3. Click on the Reserves Module in the righthand navigation.
  4. Navigate to the academic department and course to see what reserve items we have on hold.

How long can I borrow items on reserve?

Loan periods for physical materials are chosen by the faculty member when requesting items be put on reserve, and can include: Two-Hour in Library Use, One Day Loan, Three Day Loan, or One Week Loan.

What do I need to borrow course reserves?

Students will need their current Cedar Crest ID to check out course reserves.

As a faculty member, how I can request an item be put on reserve?
