Citations allow readers to find your sources and discuss how you used them. Separating your ideas from the works that you consulted is another goal of citing and a necessary step of preparing to share. Peer Review is the process by which a panel of experts review research before publication. They look for potential sources of bias that provide reasonable doubt into the conclusions of a study. Reputable publishers are transparent about their acceptance process and review criteria. It is the standard for publication in academic research.
A panel of experts evaluate the paper for methodological errors to ensure quality. To reduce bias, the identity of the authors and/ or reviewers is kept anonymous. Manuscripts are accepted for publication as-is, with revisions needed, or rejected.
