Hello! I’m Nicole Rivera, a proud Puerto Rican and Portuguese librarian, educator, and community advocate from The Bronx, New York. I currently serve as the Public Services Librarian and an adjunct professor at Cedar Crest College, where I’m passionate about creating inclusive and engaging spaces for students, faculty, and the wider community.
My academic background includes a B.A. in Psychology with a Certificate in Gerontology from Cedar Crest and an M.S. in Library Science from PennWest Clarion. I’m actively involved in professional communities like the ALA and ACRL, and I’ve had the honor of serving as President of the ACRL Delaware Valley Chapter.
I’m especially interested in information literacy, media integration, digital equity, and culturally responsive programming. In 2025, I presented at NCORE on the role of graffiti culture in education, exploring how it can empower identity, creativity, and social awareness in academic settings.
As a multicultural librarian, I strive to build library experiences that reflect the diverse voices of our students and support their growth—both intellectually and personally. Libraries are more than just collections—they’re community hubs, learning environments, and spaces for transformation.
Please feel free to reach out—I’m always happy to connect, collaborate, or chat about ways the library can support your success!
