diverse literature today for our teachers of tomorrow

The #WeRead360 Library is proud to partner with Salvaggio Academy as part of a growing co-curricular initiative connecting young learners in grades K-5 with diverse, engaging literature and authentic library experiences.

Salvaggio Academy is "committed to providing underserved children in grades K – 5 a high-quality, holistic education that ensures a strong foundation in the fundamentals of reading, writing, and math, in addition to opening their minds and hearts to a world of possibilities through science, social studies, and the arts."

This collaboration brings Library Class, a regularly scheduled, in-library experience, to Salvaggio students throughout the Cedar Crest College semester. Library staff, faculty educators, and students from Cedar Crest College's Education Department collaborate to facilitate each session to  provide students with opportunities to explore books, develop library literacy, and build lasting reading habits.

With enthusiastic support from Salvaggio staff, the partnership includes:

  • Book return options at the Academy
  • Drawstring bags and lanyards for students to transport and manage their #WeRead360 Library materials
  • Custom-designed student Library Cards, distributed and collected by their classroom teach during each Library Class

Mrs. Julie Borden, Education Department Adjunct, serves as the #WeRead360 Community Partnership Facilitator of Library Classes for Salvaggio students. Her dynamic volunteerism is so greatly appreciated!
